MICHAEL STEWART FRANKEL
Michael Stewart Frankel is the founder of the firm and his practice concentrates on complex personal injury and commercial litigation. Having earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1973 and his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 1976, he has actively practiced law in New York since 1977 and is highly experienced in numerous areas of civil practice, including lead poisoning litigation, vehicular accidents, age and racial discrimination, police misconduct, brain injury cases, defective products, elevator accidents, insurance, complex commercial litigation, and nursing home abuse and neglect. He is admitted to practice before the state courts of New York as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Michael has tried and argued cases before New York trial and appellate courts. A pioneer in the area of childhood lead poisoning litigation in New York, Michael has been the lead attorney and attorney of record on many reported cases including the landmark New York lead poisoning case entitled Juarez v. Wavecrest Mgt. Team, Ltd., 88 NY2d 628 [establishing landlords’ regulatory liability for childhood lead poisoning under NYC Local Law 1], Munoz v. Puretz 301 AD2d 382 [liability of landlord for prenatal exposure to lead based paint suffered by the unborn child of a tenant], Zaman v. Patwary 295 AD2d 424 [notice of child under Local Law 1], Perez v. New York City Housing Authority, 304 AD2d 736 [collateral estoppel effect of DOH lead paint violations] and has obtained for his clients millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements. He has taught law and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum – The Top Trial Lawyers In America, and has been chosen to be a member of Best Lawyers of America.
RICHARD H. BLISS
Richard H. Bliss is of counsel to the firm concentrating on complex litigated motions and appeals. Having earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University in 1973 and his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 1976, he has actively practiced law in New York since 1977 and is highly experienced in numerous areas of civil practice, including personal injury, commercial litigation, construction law, insurance, and real estate. He is admitted to practice before the state courts of New York as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Richard has argued numerous cases before New York trial and appellate courts involving significant legal questions (see, e.g., Marmelstein v. Kehillat New Hempstead, 11 NY3d 15  [establishing requirements for a claim of breach of fiduciary duty against clergyman]; Juarez v. Wavecrest Mgt. Team, Ltd., 88 NY2d 628  [clarifying landlords’ liability for childhood lead poisoning under NYC Local Law 1]). His articles have appeared in the New York Real Estate Law Reporter and in the New York Law Journal’s “Outside Counsel” column, and his writings have been cited in court decisions (see, e.g., Matter of Brussels Leasing Limited Partnership v. Henne, 174 Misc.2d 535 [Sup Ct, Queens County 1997]; Cirillo v. Transportation Vehicles, Inc., 78 AD2d 835 [1st Dept 1980]) and other publications dealing with New York law.
Richard has taught law, and he has served as a court-appointed referee as well as a volunteer Special Master in the Supreme and Civil Courts in New York County.
REUVEN S. FRANKEL
Reuven S. Frankel handles cases at all stages of litigation at The Frankel Law Firm. Reuven Frankel regularly appears in the Supreme Court of New York throughout New York City, where he has earned his reputation as a skilled and thoughtful litigator who utilizes his keen procedural and substantive knowledge to zealously represent the interests of his clients. A skilled advocate, Reuven maintains an active motion calendar, and has briefed and argued appeals before the Appellate Division of the State of New York.
While a law student at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree with a concentration in General Litigation, Reuven was privileged to serve as a student Judicial Law Clerk at the Supreme Court, Bronx County, and as an intern at the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the First Judicial Department.
Mr. Frankel is member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and is an active member of the Bronx County Bar Association where he serves on the Judiciary Committee. He is admitted to practice law in the state courts of New York and New Jersey, as well as in the United States District Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the District of New Jersey.
